My Self-Initiated Project for Shakespeare’s Macbeth

I designed and illustrated the book cover that encapsulates the themes, emotions, and iconic imagery of the play. I wanted to convey themes of ambition and guilt. To achieve this, I hand drew icons that represent key symbols and motifs from each play, such as crown and dagger.

To add depth to the cover, I created a pattern for the background, which can also be used as endpapers.

After finalizing the drawings, I colored the illustrations in Photoshop. I chose a dark and moody palette for Macbeth to evoke a sense of foreboding.

This self-initiated project was a rewarding exploration of how visual art can express complex literary themes. It provided me with the opportunity to delve into Shakespeare's most powerful works while allowing my creativity to flourish. Completing the cover reinforced my belief in the power of storytelling, whether through words or illustrations. I hope that my designs inspire readers to engage with these classics and find resonance in the universal human experiences they portray.
