Illustrating ‘James and the Giant Peach’ from the Penguin Archive Book Brief

I am excited to share my latest project: illustrating for the Penguin Archive Book Brief, specifically for Roald Dahl's classic, ‘James and the Giant Peach’. This book cover project allowed me to delve into the whimsical world of Dahl’s storytelling and bring my own artistic interpretation to this cherished tale.

I wanted to create artwork that not only reflects the enchanting adventure of James and his oversized peach but also resonates with both longtime fans and new readers alike. I began the process by brainstorming iconic elements from the story. My focus was on illustrating the giant peach from a different perspective, when James arrives in America As I wanted to illustrate the magic of their journey. Once I finalized the sketches, I used photoshop to add colour to ensure that each element burst with life and contributed to the whimsical atmosphere of the story. I opted for bright and playful hues, which reflect the enchanting nature of Dahl’s narrative and the wonderful adventures that unfold within the peach.
