Book Cover Design for a Collection of Rumi Poems

I did a passion project: designing a book cover for a collection of poems by the Persian poet, Rumi. This project was particularly close to my heart, as Rumi’s poetry resonates with themes of love, spirituality, and the beauty of the human experience. I wanted to create a cover that not only captures the essence of his work but also invites readers into his timeless wisdom. The design process began with a focus on Rumi's poetry itself. His words are rich with imagery and emotion, so I felt it was essential to reflect that depth in the visual elements of the cover. I decided to hand-draw patterns inspired by traditional Persian and Turkish art. I wanted the patterns to evoke a sense of harmony and spirituality that is central to Rumi's work. Once the patterns were finalized, I used Photoshop to add color. I wanted to create a soothing palette that would resonate with the lyrical quality of the poems.

I aimed for the cover to feel both contemporary and reflective of the rich heritage surrounding Rumi’s poetry. Completing this passion project was a deeply rewarding experience. It served as a reminder of the transformative power of art and literature. I found joy in the process, channeling my admiration for Rumi into the design, and I hope it resonates with readers as they explore his profound insights.

The beauty of Rumi’s poetry deserves to be celebrated, and I hope my cover can contribute to that celebration by inviting others to engage with his work.
