Crafting a Unique Touch: Notebooks for Josh and the Squash Club

I’m excited to share a project where I created custom notebooks for ‘The Club’, a squash club! This commission allowed me to blend my passion for hand lettering and illustration while designing something meaningful for a vibrant community that shares a love for the sport. The idea behind the notebooks was to provide the professional athletes with a practical tool where they could use to jot down their thoughts, track their progress, or simply take notes during meetings. With this in mind, I wanted to reflect the energy and camaraderie of the squash club in my designs.

To begin, I focused on the brand's colors, ensuring that the notebook aligned with the club's identity. I used a combination of bright and bold tones that are not only striking but also evoke the exhilaration of playing squash. Incorporating the brand’s colors helped create a cohesive look, making the notebooks feel like an official part of the club’s merchandise. For the design, I hand-lettered the club’s name on the cover, giving it a unique and personal touch. I wanted the lettering to be dynamic, reflecting the movement and agility that squash entails. Each letter was crafted with care to ensure clarity and style, ultimately showcasing the passion that the athletes have for the sport. In addition to the hand lettering, I included illustrations that represent elements of squash, such as rackets, balls, and dynamic player silhouettes. These illustrations were designed to bring a playful energy to the notebooks and inspire users to engage with their passion for the game. By combining lettering with visuals, I aimed to create covers that are not only functional but also eye-catching. After finalizing the illustrations and lettering, I ensured that the layout was both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
